I planned to die before you, so I wouldn’t feel this pain,
a weight that’s just been hanging there on a heavy chain.

A parent’s biggest fear one that we all dread
To see your child who’s suffering and it should be you instead.

To watch and just feel helpless nothing we could do,
Begging, crying, praying to hope that you pull through.

Your suffering now is over, for us it’s just begun
Guilty feeling healthy, guilty having fun.

Will I ever smile again will I laugh no more
Will I find the courage to get up from the floor.

Need to think of others, to try and get them through,
But how to solve my own grief, I haven’t got a clue.
